Box Break: 2014 Topps High Tek Baseball

I can’t begin to describe how excited I was for the release of 2014 Topps High Tek. I loved this stuff when it first came out in the late 90’s. Iridescent printed on acetate create a unique look. Multiple variations of the base cards make it a player collector’s paradise. Plus, a huge list of on card autographs, make this a trophy hunters product.  For me, it was a no-brainer, especially because this product includes a ton of Mark McGwire cards.

So, this Christmas, I picked up two boxes and tried my luck. Here are the results of my boxes:

Box 1:

George Springer RC (HT-GS) Spirals
Dustin Pedroia (HT-DPE) Spirals
Andrelton Simmons (HT-AS) Spiral Brick Gold Diffractor #ed 42/99
Jose Fernandez (HT-JF) Clouds Diffractor Auto #ed 20/25
Mike Piazza (HT-MP) Spiral Bricks
David Wright (HT-DW) Spiral Bricks
Chris Sale (HT-CS) Wave
Wade Boggs (HT-WB) Circuit Board

Box 2:

Roger Clemens (HT-RCL) Spirals
Will Myers (HT-WM) Spirals
Yasiel Puig (HT-YP) Blue Dots Diffractor #ed 4/5
Greg Maddux (99T-GM) TEKnicians #ed 42/50
Marcus Stroman (HT-MS) Disco Diffractor Auto #ed 49/50
Willie Mays (HT-WMA) Spiral Bricks
Pedro Martinez (HT-PM) Wave
Bo Jackson (HT-BJ) Wave

Overall, I really enjoyed Topps High Tek. All though I didn’t get a McGwire card, my two boxes produced a couple of solid hits. The Jose Fernandez auto is an amazing card, while the Puig Blue Dots Diffractor should pay for the two boxes.
