2015 Leaf Pop Century Box Break

I would be lying to you if I said this product didn’t interest me. From the moment I saw the sell sheets, I thought about how cool it would be to break a pack of this stuff and hit something sweet like an Al Pacino, Gene Wilder, or Megan Fox auto. Usually, non-sport/movie & entertainment products don’t catch my eye, but the list of autos made me want a pack. So, when I had the pack sitting in front of me at the NSCC show, I decided to give in to the temptation and purchase one. To sweeten the deal Leaf was giving away a limited edition NSCC wrapper redemption pack, so I will be talking about that as well. Here are the breaks.

Pop Century: One pack (4 cards)

First Card- BA-TP1 Tera Patrick “Pop Century Signatures” Auto

Second Card- LC-JP1 Joe Pantoliano “Live & Clear” Auto #ed 12/20

Third Card- SP-KS1 Ken Shamrock “Star Power” Auto

Fourth Card- SS-KB1 Kristen Bell “Stunning Starlets” Auto #ed 04/15

Weighing in on this pack, I think it could have been way worse. The Pantoliano auto was interesting. I’m not sure on the picture selection, the bloody bag is odd. I would have preferred a photo from The Goonies, but it’s still a great card. The Ken Shamrock auto is flashy and I like that a sports personality was included, especially an MMA HOFer. The Kristen Bell auto was huge. She is a hottie who plays the voice of Anna from Disney’s smash hit Frozen. Popularity is definitely on this cards side. The only card that I feel is lacking would be the porn star Terra Patrick auto. Not that I’m a prude, but I feel that this card kind of cheapens the product. However, this is only my opinion. I’m sure there are collectors who enjoy this cards inclusion, and secondary market sales do support this thought. In the end, I guess I’m saying that I would have rather had an Al Pacing auto.

Leaf NSCC Redemption Pack: One pack (7 Cards)

This bonus pack was given out to customers who purchased select Leaf products and then opened them at the Leaf booth. Each pack contained seven acetate cards, with randomly seeded autographs. Here is what my pack contained.

KS1- Kyle Schwarber

TG1- Todd Gurley

DJ1- Duke Johnson

CRJ- Cal Ripken Jr.

FT1- Frank Thomas

KW1- Kevin White

MM1- Marcus Mariota

These card are cool looking and have a nice feel to them (I’m always a sucker for acetate). Additionally, I like the 1990 Leaf retro design, but I feel as if this set is lacking. Part of me was hoping for more flash, or at least more color. It would have been nice to pull an auto. From what I hear, there were a variety of auto subsets that would have broken up the dull repetition of cards. Oh well, I guess you can’t always be a winner.
